Applications: MOLCLAY™ HK is commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations as a tablet diluent, bulking agent and external poultice base. It helps absorb moisture, oils and wound exudates, providing a protective and soothing effect on irritated skin. 1 Appearance It occurs as fine, white or greyish-white, unctuous powder.

(A) A gelatinous white precipitate is produced.
(B) The apparent volume of the sediment is not greater than 5 mL
(C) It gives reaction of silicates.
3 Solubility It is practically insoluble in water and in organic solvents.
4 Acidity or alkalinity The solution is colourless. Not more than 0.25 mL of 0.01 M sodium hydroxide is required to change the colour of the indicator to pink.
5 Organic impurities The residue is only slightly more coloured than the original substance.
6 Adsorption power The solution is not more intensely coloured than a 0.03 g/L solution of methylene blue.
7 Swelling power The mixture does not flow.
8 Substances soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid Not more than 1%.
9 Chlorides Not more than 250 ppm.
10 Sulfates Not more than 0.1%.
11 Calcium Not more than 250 ppm.

PACKAGING

MOLCLAY™ HK is packed in HDPE bag or drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 5 years. It is preserve in well-closed containers.
